So I swear that I was feeling really good about getting on with things when I posted on October 21.
What I didn't know at the time was that later that night, while at a friend's place, my foot was going to get suddenly sore again. What I didn't say in that last blog post was that I was recovering (well I thought) from a sprained ankle.
Turned out it wasn't just sprained. I had a broken bone in my foot. And I had to go no-weight bearing on it for 17 days, until a specialist cleared me. Let me tell you - as an unfit, overweight, middle-aged woman, trying to get around on just one foot was a nightmare. Thankfully we found a solution - a knee scooter, best thing in the world. But still it was a terribly tiring and upsetting couple of weeks, and getting into my office and to my computer was just too hard.
Then when I was allowed to walk again, I had to jump into managing my second ever professional conference, so that stress took over.
But the conference went well, my foot is slowly but surely recovering and I have started physio on it. So I am ready to jump back into being Nicole the Writer. Again.
I have a project to work on. I can't say anything yet, but I've had some fabulous news on the writing front. While I've been wallowing, the strength of my stories has continued to work for me, and I am really grateful for that.
2018 is going to be a great year for me writing wise. So now is the time to start working toward making the most of that.
